Chocolate Orange Ice Cream for 5 Ingredients or Less
In the spirit of summer coming, I wanted to make an ice cream dessert that is simple and gluten free. I love the combination of dark chocolate and orange, so I used these as my key flavors for this challenge. (In general, I love anything that’s chocolate orange flavored.)
5 ingredient recipe are amazing to follow, but area really difficult to devise. It takes some creativity to come up with a balanced, delicious 5 ingredient recipe, so I’m excited to see what everyone has created!
1 pint heavy cream
4 oz 70% dark chocolate
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup whole or 2% milk
zest of 1 orange
1.In a medium saucepan, heat the cream and sugar over medium heat. Break the chocolate into pieces and add it to the cream. Stir constantly until the chocolate has melted.
2.Whisk in the milk until the consistency is smooth and all the chocolate is completely melted. Whisk in the zest once done, and transfer to a plastic container.
3.Let the cream cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
4.Prepare your ice cream maker, and churn the ice cream for about 30 minutes. Transfer to a plastic container, cover, and store in the freezer for four hours prior to serving.
