Southern Sweet Tea for Sunday Supper Chilling
Happy Fourth of July to all my American readers! I hope that those of you who participated had lots of fun and were able to celebrate with friends and family.
This weekend for Sunday Supper we’re bringing you some recipes that are perfect for those hot summer days. I grew up in the South, so when I think of cooling off on a hot day, the first thing I think of is Sweet Tea. There’s nothing that I love more than a nice cold glass of sweet tea on a hot summer day (ice cream is a close second). This is a really simple recipe that can easily be adjusted to your sweet-taste preference. I will warn you, this recipe puts the sweet in Sweet Tea, lovers of unsweetened tea beware…
Ingredients:
3 black tea bags
2 cups hot water
1/4 cup honey
2 cups cold water
2 lemons
1 cup ice
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, pour the hot water onto the tea bags, letting them steep for 5 minutes. Squeeze the liquid out of the tea bags and discard them.
2. Transfer the tea to a pitcher. Add the honey and stir until dissolved. Add the cold water and juice of one lemon and refrigerate for an hour.
3. Before serving, slice the remaining lemon into thin slices. Add the lemon slices and ice to the pitcher, and stir.
