spiced pumpkin cider

Hand me a glass of warm pumpkin cider, because it’s that time of year again! Last year I participated in Pumpkin Week 2015, and had tons of fun coming up with pumpkin recipes to share. Last year I shared 5 recipes, and you may be wondering if there’s enough pumpkin to come up with five more. Well of course there are!

Thus, I wanted to kick off my pumpkin recipes with a pumpkin cider recipe! Honestly, I picked pumpkin cider as my first recipe for this week’s Pumpkin Week because I had an epiphany recently. Over the six years that I have been blogging, I really haven’t made many beverage recipes. Now, I don’t know if that’s due to me never being a big drinker, or by the fact that growing up I really only drank water and milk. I mean occasionally I would get treated with some kool-aid or soda, but my mom did an amazing job when I was growing up of limiting my sugary drink intake. Realistically it wasn’t until my adult years that I started expanding my drink horizon, and falling in love with the tradition of kicking off the arrival of fall with warm spiced drinks.

Ciders and other warm beverages now have a warm place in my heart, since I have many wonderful memories from the last decade built upon spending time with people just as its starting to cool down outside. Sipping warm ciders by the campfire, and smelling the crackling fire as it gives off a faint warmth. This pumpkin cider recipe will have you thinking of the coming winter, while warming you up with all the flavors of your favorite pumpkin pie.

Sounds inviting 🙂 Kudos on your mom keeping sugary drinks at bay! We never drink anything but water, tea, coffee and occasionally juice and I always buy cider in the fall! This Pumpkin Spice Cider is a first for me, I’ll have to give it a try!
